If you had to choose…

If you had to choose between that angry, spluttering, warring and threatening Nassrallah and the calm, smiling, peaceful and reconciliatory Siniora, which one would you choose?

Which one would you choose, the one accusing his opponents of collaboration and treachery, or the one saying that we are all Lebanese and we should find a compromise?

Between anger that verges on hate, accusations that approach death sentences, threats and promises of nasty surprises, rhetoric that are similar to the one used against mortal enemy, AND a calm, smiling and reconciliatory tone that exudes confidence, moderation and peace!!!

Which one would you choose? Hanoi or Honk Kong!!!! Forever war, death and destruction OR peace, prosperity and a decent life…

The choice is entirely in your hands, for I already made mine…

PEACE

Peace.

I think this whole thing is shit
Killing off and assasinating leaders rather than debating is a disgrace to the civilised race

This is why the Western world look at all this and shake there head the West continues to win meanwhile the Arabs (Christian or Muslim) are the losers.

I'm sure Nasrallah isnt living in poverty- he doesnt care about Lebanese people he is only interested in making himself and his family powerful

You look at Sinoira - not sure if he cares entirely for the Lebanese people - what politician does
but he comes across as intellegent, well presented and a fair person

I would chose him any day - i mean for the sake of whomever you believe in - a religious person in charge and influence over a group of people - please

a relegious person ?? never ! and i am sure he is not the one that will feed the poor, i am sure he is as rich as saniora . fanatism , extremism this is what he represents and i will never never choose him.

Thx Am, Faisal and Tan, it is good to know that one is not alone in this world…

I have always said that I choose 14th of March because they are the better than the other party, not because they are the absolute best! So go ahead and form a third party and I will support you ;)

Rabie

It is your urge to insult me that shows your own worth, ability for dialogue and compromise. Whether you like me or not, whether you want to insult me or not, I am as Lebanese as you are and you will have to live with me, accept my opinion and believes…

So please, next time when you have the urge to insult go ahead and show your true self, because it will only prove my point.

When you say that Siniora is ignoring half the population, I can logically infer that he does NOT ignore the other half and they support him. So do tell me what is the difference then between Nassrallah who is, according to you, supported by half the people and Siniora who is supported by the other half? Or do you mean that some people are more honorable than othersd, as Nassrallah says!!!!

Last but not least, I do not accept this lie about Siniora being a thief, you either prove what you say or do not say it. For doesn’t Hezbollah claim that one cannot accuse Syria of the assassination of Hariri before the investigation is concluded? Therefore I ask the same of you, get me the evidence and court ruling then I will accept this erroneous and unacceptable accusation….

Peace

It is very easy in Lebanon to accuse anyone in these days, everybody says that Saniora steals money without providing a tangible proof, which doesn’t support this accusation, but in Lebanon, everything has become so easy, especially accusations.

But, even if Saniora does steals money ( which is something I don’t agree providing the above facts ), I would go with him, because being with Hezbollah means supporting facts such as ( and I emphasize: FACTS, which they themselves cant and wont deny ):

1- Hezbollah is a militia not a resistance, sure it does fights Israel, but they are a state within a state, and have their own army, however, a resistance by definition is a group of people who obtains weapons and fight the occupation, and can be a resistance of a legitimate state against an occupier, not a state within a state that forces its rules on an entire varied population
2- Sayyed Hassan is first and foremost a cleric, man of religion, and we all know that whenever religion interferes with politics, nothing good happens to the country.
3- Hezbollah is a strong supporter of Syria and they admit it themselves, and they want Syrian influence to be strong in Lebanon, something we will never accept.

I m sure many Hezbollah supporters accuse Saniora of theft; laugh at him when he cries, but again, who said men don’t cry? We are not walls or animals.
And he did come up with a compromise, the 19-9-2 gov’t in which the opposition refused.

These are the facts, nothing more.

Calm down people...
BOB the third party is Lebanon and everybody should support it ;)

I ask them to calm down too.....amazing how angry they can get.
as of the third party i would love to join it too. but u know at the end of the day Lebanon is what we r fight for, and the question is what Lebanon do we want?? and reality is here there r only 2 parties , therefore we have to choose .....I want a free democratic and peacefull Lebanon! i think 14 of march represents that much more than 8 march.

Did you know that the USA has an $8.500 trillion debt, and Bush too lives in a very nice house. So this makes him a thief too I guess, Chirac too by the way.

So before you start hurling accusation try to understand what you are talking about. SO it is neither Siniora’s house nor the debt that proves any wrong doing, it is how the money was spent. And until you rbing me any shred of evidence that PROVES beyond a doubt that Siniroa stole a penny, keep your piece.

By the way the past 14 years Siniora was not Prime Minster, he has been PM for the last two years. And in Lebanon it is the PM who has the last say in government spending.

So if you accuse Siniora of stealing this means that you are blaming Rafik Hariri too.

Additional your current friend, Salim Hosss was the PM for two years, so by your own twisted logic he is responsible for six billion dollars of the debt (42 billion /14 years= 6 billion dollars) ask him to return them!

Another contradiction, at first you say that you believe that 8th of March now hold 655 and then you say Siniora ignores 50% of the Lebanese!! Can you make up your mind!

Khawwta

I am an example of calm, the guy just professed his will to insult me and I did not even respond in kind…

I think that your proposition is over-simplistic. We have a Lebanese saying that goes:

yama ta7t el sawehy dawehy

Catch my drift?

I would hate to make up my political position based on something like this. Hafez el Asad was a very calm person also.

Anonymous said...

Do you also have a Lebanese saying lets kill anyone who is a threat
why not we are animals

rabie,
stop talking, you sound like blah,blah,blah.....One answer for you: Iza atatka mazamati min nakisen , fa hiya chahadatu li b ani kamilou. Allah yer7amak ya moutanabi..
Again,am sorry bob, this guy is just impossible, and to think our country is in the hands of people with such a mentality is a frightening thought..
and by the way rabie,we gonna need some more money to fix up downtown to the way it was..destruction of public property and especially for a place you call home is shamful.

You know what, I was convincing myself that diversity in Lebanon is a gift.. now I’m sure that Diversity in our country is a curse.. We truly won’t be able to build a unified Lebanon with such kind of intention..(Law Saniyoura w Hassan Nassralla kanou bi nafsil L khatt akid kinto rah tza2foulon..) Unfortunately L cha3eb L libnani bi fadel L zo3ama 3a “WATANO” hayda iza ba3ed fi watan.

Rabie

my last answer to you, I never use numbers or facts unless i check them, unlike some...

so "The United States public debt, commonly called the national debt, gross federal debt or U.S. government debt, is the amount of money owed by the United States federal government to creditors who hold US Debt Instruments. This does not include the money owed by states, corporations, or individuals, nor does it include the money owed to Social Security beneficiaries in the future. As of September 21, 2006, the total U.S. government debt was $8.500 trillion."

source: Wikipedia
link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._public_debt

thank you very much

BOB said...

Rabie

I am sorry but you change your mind every time in answer you. For example "Are you seriously telling me that USA has an 8.500$ debt have you gone that low?"

Then you claim that "didn't say the trillion dollar debt isn’t there"

So until you can say things and be responsible for what you say i think any discussion is useless.
At least have the decency to apologize for your mistake and what you called me.
And I never called you impossible so try to name the person you are responding to…
when you do that i will continue our discussion.

at some level i am starting to think like you...
and it scares me.

faisal

i agree some people are difficult to deal with, but we should not forget that these people are also lebanese...

Anonymous said...

Rabie,
"didn't say the trillion dollar debt isnt there i said they could make it up in a day"
I hate to break the news for you but also the u.s. is struggling with its debt.

I called u impossible because it is not a discussion with you. you are repeating what you have been told and memorized. You don't want to listen, you are not open to other opinions and it is not an educated conversation with you,it is like hitting a wall, that's all...

"what has sanyoora spent on other than his house?" yeah, poor mr nasrallah lives in a tent, and mr. berri shares it with him..name one politician who is homeless and wearing second hand clothing..very silly..
The issue of how much the country is loosing every day,how many people lost their jobs, how many businesses are thinking of closing and moving out completely, and some already moved just since the demonstrations started is not a big deal!!!?? The logic says you go home wait for election, this is democracy, not when you accept to serve in the government for sometime then u decide you don't like it,yallah let's go change it.

You are outside lebanon busting your.. to make a good living and build a future for yourself, what good the money you are making wherever you are if you can't come back to your country to enjoy the fruit of your hard work,no stability or safety.

I assure you, I know exactly where I stand.

I only envy BOB for his patience.

All this crap about America and its debt
If Lebanese people dont stick together there will never ever be a peace and only the criminals will win

Give me liberty or give me death...
I choose HEZBOLLAH!

BOB said...

Rabie
many things...
Most important among them the end of the war, the electoral law reform committee, paris 3, the aid to Lebanon during and after the war. And a extraordinary economic revival, starting with a record touristic season that could have happened if Nassrallah did not decide to attack Israel!

Anonymous

Do you mean that Hezbollah equates death? Because sure as hell Hezbollah will never give you any liberty!

Anonymous said...

Hezbollah fought israeli occupation for 20 years and ALREADY gave us liberty.
(where you sleeping or something?)

BOB said...

Of course, liberty but just from Israel, as Syria was just picnicking in Lebanon…
Pah…

Anonymous said...

Why didn't you fight Syrian presence?
Are you waiting for someone else to do it while you just criticise the people fighting occupation in the regions they live in?

BOB said...

Well we drove the Syrians troops out you know! But because of their allies they are still having influence. And by allies I mean Hezbollah, Amal and the other small parties (Baath and the Syrian Koumi)!

So if you are urging the 14ht of March to attack Syria's allies, rest assured we are not the ones who own weapons and want civil war.

Anonymous said...

First you don't have the right to use march 14 as a label because march 14 includes me and I don't support this government.
Second I have no problem with having normal relations with Syria. As far as influence you have to understand (and to accept) that i am Lebanese AND want an alliance with Syria to face the declared neo colonial US push to control the greater middle east. In that we have a common interest with Syria.
Third I am not urging any Lebanese to attack any other Lebanese with weapons. All should remain within civilised debate and within the law.

BOB said...

I have every right to use the 14th of March label!
I was there on that beautiful day and I am still following the same convictions, it is Aoun who choose to change sides. Now you are Lebanese and you want an alliance with Syria, good for you (and I can’t understand how you call yourself part of March 14th when you want to ally yourself with Syria. The same Syria that killed Bashir gemayel, Rafik Hariri, Samir Kassir and Gebran tueini, and finally Pierre Gemayel, the same Syria that exiled Aoun…)
However I refuse to be allied with them, they killed many Lebanese and they still are. And in the same logic I want to be allied with the US and France, to counter the neo-Farsi attack by Iran and Syria and of course I am Lebanese too. So if you refuse my alliance and I refuse yours, we have a problem.

And when you say within the law, what do you think of people forcefully occupying other citizens property and closing down their businesses (for example: the parking lot Hezbollah are sleeping in…)

Anonymous said...

>>I have every right to use the 14th of March label!
You can but it is misleading since it includes people who are now supporting the opposition
>>It is Aoun who chose to change sides.
I think it is the others who betrayed the message most people in those demos where sending:
Syria out, A CLEAN government, an end to sectarianism and a country based on merit. Unfortunetly they stopped on item 1.
>>That killed Rafik Hariri, Samir
>>Kassir and Gebran tueini, and
>>finally Pierre Gemayel
Never proven. I am convinced it is Israel. But I'll go further, even
if it is I will not blame the whole 18.5 million syrians that have nothing to do with it.
If some in the regime (there was and is split) are responsible for this they should pay but this does not change our geopolitical situation and interest.

>>And in the same logic I want to
>>be allied with the US and France
Absolutely, you can support being colonised it is your right!
But in the end the vast majority of the people in the Middle
East are against it: I see it as a sense of history.
Some vietnamese wanted to be under US influence but in the end the ones who were against this won.

BOB said...

Quick question if it was 14th of March who turned, why isn’t Aoun still calling himself 14 March. Moreover, what do you call Aoun alliance with Frangieh, Arslan and the rest of Syria’s cronies? If not a total turn about if the former first anti-Syrian in Lebanon!!!

Alliance is not subjugation!! Big difference!
